Questions

You’re welcome exactly as you are

The things people most often ask before they begin, about the practice, the workshops and Attune itself.

Mindfulness

What is mindfulness?

Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention to what's happening in the present moment, with openness and without judgement.

It's about noticing your thoughts, emotions, breath and body, and becoming more aware of your experience as it unfolds.

It's not about emptying your mind or always feeling calm. It's simply about paying a little more attention to your life as you're living it.

Is mindfulness the same as meditation?

Not quite.

Mindfulness is a way of paying attention that can be practised throughout the day. Meditation is one way of developing that skill by setting aside time to practise it intentionally.

Do I need to practise yoga to practise mindfulness?

No.

Mindfulness doesn’t require any particular kind of movement or physical practice. It can be explored while sitting, walking, eating, listening or simply going about your day.

Yoga may be included in some Attune workshops, but you don’t need any experience with yoga to take part. Where yoga or mindful movement is included, variations will be offered so you can choose movements that feel comfortable and accessible to you. You may also choose to stay with movements or poses that are familiar to you.

The intention isn’t to perfect a yoga pose. It’s to bring awareness to the body and breath as you move.

Do I need any experience?

Not at all.

Whether you've never meditated before or have been practising for years, you're welcome exactly as you are. The practices are simple and designed to meet you where you are.

What if I can't stop thinking?

That's completely normal.

The mind thinks—that's what it does.

Mindfulness isn't about stopping your thoughts. It's about noticing them without getting caught up in every one of them.

Do I need to quiet my mind before I can meditate?

No.

You bring the mind you have that day.

Some days it will feel calm.

Some days it will feel busy.

Both are welcome.

The practice isn't about creating a perfect state of mind. It's about learning to work with the mind you have, not the mind you wish you had.

Can mindfulness help with stress or anxiety?

Many people find mindfulness helpful in relating differently to stress, anxiety and difficult emotions.

Rather than trying to get rid of them, mindfulness helps us notice what's happening so we can respond more thoughtfully, instead of reacting automatically.

Is mindfulness connected to a particular religion?

Mindfulness has roots in contemplative traditions, including Buddhism, but the way I teach it is practical and accessible to people from all backgrounds and beliefs.

You don't need to follow any particular philosophy or spiritual path to benefit from the practices. You're welcome exactly as you are.

What if I'm not good at meditating?

There's no such thing as being 'good' at meditation.

Some days the mind feels busy. Some days it feels settled. Both are part of the practice.

The aim isn't to have a perfect meditation. It's simply to notice your experience with a little more awareness and kindness.

Workshops

What happens in a mindfulness workshop?

Every workshop is a little different, but most include guided mindfulness practices, simple exercises, time for discussion and practical ways to bring mindfulness into everyday life.

Where it supports the experience, I may also incorporate sound using instruments such as singing bowls or chimes. Sometimes there is sound. Sometimes there is silence. Both have something to offer.

Do I need any experience with sound?

No.

If sound is part of a workshop or retreat, I'll guide you through the experience. There's nothing you need to know or do beforehand.

Will I be asked to share personal experiences?

Sharing is always optional.

You're welcome to simply listen, take part in the practices and have your own experience.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to sit or move with ease.

You don't need to bring any special equipment.

If there's anything specific you'll need for a particular workshop, you'll receive those details beforehand.

How long are the workshops?

Each workshop is a little different. The duration will always be mentioned on the booking page or event details.

Do you offer corporate workshops or private group sessions?

Yes.

Attune offers mindfulness workshops for organisations, retreats and private groups.

If you're planning an event or would like to create a customised session, I'd be happy to hear what you have in mind and explore how we can create something that fits your needs.

Retreats

What can I expect at a retreat?

Retreats are an opportunity to step away from the pace of everyday life and reconnect with yourself.

Depending on the retreat, the experience may include guided mindfulness practices, meditation, mindful movement, reflective exercises, periods of silence and, where appropriate, sound-supported practices.

What do you mean by 'sound-supported practices'?

At times, I use instruments such as Himalayan singing bowls, chimes and tuning forks to support the practice.

There is no right way to experience the sound. It's simply one of the many ways I may help people slow down, settle their attention and reconnect with the present moment.

About Attune

Why did you start Attune?

I didn't discover mindfulness because I wanted to become a mindfulness teacher.

I discovered it because I was struggling.

After experiencing anxiety and panic attacks, I started looking for something that would help me relate differently to what I was going through.

That search led me in many directions—mindfulness, meditation, psychology, sound, Vedanta and Buddhist philosophy.

None of them removed life's challenges.

But together, they changed the way I experienced them.

They helped me slow down, understand myself a little better and respond to life with more awareness and compassion.

Attune grew from that journey.

Not because I have all the answers, but because I know what it's like to be searching.

If Attune can help someone pause, reconnect with themselves and feel a little less alone in that search, then it has done what I hoped it would.

What can I expect from Attune?

At Attune, you'll find a practical and approachable way to learn mindfulness.

Some workshops include guided meditation. Some include discussion. Some include sound. Sometimes we sit in silence.

The format may change, but the intention stays the same.

To help you slow down enough to notice what's already here.

I don't think mindfulness begins and ends with meditation. It's something we carry into our conversations, the way we eat, the way we listen, the way we respond, and the way we move through everyday life.

My hope is that when you leave an Attune workshop, you don't just feel calmer.

You leave noticing your life a little differently.
